Geoff and Craig's trip to Brazil

Thursday - Argentina & Italian Couple & Dinner at International
Craig- Since this was our full day at Iguaçu, we decided to spend it in Argentina, where the
larger part of the waterfalls can be explored. We took city busses full of tourists from all over the
world, to get across the border into Argentina and into the park there. On one of the busses we met a couple
from Italy, Marco and Silvia, who work as tour guides in Europe, and had been to this part of the falls the
day before, so had lots of good suggestions for us. We hiked together for a bit and enjoyed getting to know
each other. You can see them below, as well as the stunning beauty of the falls.

After we split from them, we took their suggestion of riding a boat that takes you very close to the bottoms
of the falls. It was a wild and thrilling ride, as you can see below. The weather in Iguaçu was
very hot, so the cold splash from the falls was always welcome, and we got DRENCHED!

Then we took a train and walkway to a different part of the falls: the Garganta do Diabo (Devil's Throat),
which was just incredible, no less so because the walkway puts you right on top of it!

For dinner that night, we ended up at the International Hotel, which is a modern high-rise in the middle of
Foz do Iguaçu (the town back on the Brazil side where we stayed). The high-end restaurant on the top
floor rotated slowly for us to see the lovely setting sun as we ate. It was almost empty, and expensive by
Brazilian standards but moderately priced compared to U.S. prices. We enjoyed an excellent meal in a quiet
setting after a full day, and went to bed early.
